Natsværmeri (Bent Fabricius-Bjerre & LiveStrings) [CD & 12″ LP]
Bent Fabricius-Bjerre is without a doubt the most beloved Danish composer since the Great Carl Nielsen.
His music has enthralled and delighted listeners since the early 1950’ies, and at the age of 93, he himself continues to compose and perform.
You’ll find his music on many albums where artists have recorded the tunes, and on countless compilations.
But one thing that Fabricius-Bjerre has never been particularly fond of, is looking back.
That is why ‘Natsværmeri’ (roughly translated from Danish it means ‘swarming in the night’) is such a unique album.
Not only does it contain many of Fabricius-Bjerres best melodies, but it features himself on piano.
That testifies to the quality of this project. One that cellist Live Johansson dreamed up.
She is the leader of LiveStrings, a quartet that has performed on countless occasions with the biggest stars in Denmark, in pretty much every genre.
She wanted to record an album that featured this great music, but she wanted unique arrangements for her quartet written for each track.
The result was os such quality that Bent Fabricius-Bjerre happily agreed, not only to perform on the album, but also supervise the entire process.
The album also features three of Denmark’s best musicians: Mathias Heise (harmonica), Michala Petri (recorder) and Bjarke Mogensen (accordion).
The result is an amazing album where the sound of a classical quartet meets the wonderful melodies of Bent Fabricius-Bjerre.
On the album you will find 11 of Fabricius-Bjerres best pieces, but also a completely new piece, written for this album, called ‘Natsværmeri’
THE ALBUM IS AVAILABLE ON BOTH LP AND CD, AND ON ALL DIGITAL PLATFORMS.
